Default HDD problems!! Help Needed

HI!!!

I have 3 HDD's on my pc. The oldest one Samsung 20 GB (abt 4 yrs old) is giving some problem. I recently tried to format the drive to NTFS from FAT32 . The process got interupted now one of the partition is not working. I tried to reformat it using the xp cd but after reaching 100% it just stops working and the other HDD start to run at full speed. I have another disk 40GB Samsung 7200 rpm drive. I installed it first in my old pc there i got a max space of 33 GB only. I thought that it can only support that much. Now on on my new mobo MSI K8N Neo platinum it still gives me only 33 GB of space even after removing all the partitions and redetecting the drive.

Can neone plz help!!!
