Re: running OS X on PC
While there are ways to run Mac OS X on a PC, I certainly don't recommend it. There are some things that's different on Macs than on Windows, running Mac OS X on a PC will make you face more problems than you would face problems with Windows.
Boot camp is for running Windows on a Mac, not for running OS X on a PC. You can find it on Apple's website for free.
To run Mac OS X, you should get a mac.

Re: running OS X on PC
Running MacOS X on a non-Apple Computer is illegal.
Though if u manage to install it on a PC, it will work fine. As Macs are also PCs

Yup, you will face lots of driver problems for the OS. Most of the hardware out there is not compatible with MacOS. Either buy the cheapest Mac, the mac mini worth 35k + a monitor +key+mouse or don't use it.
You can find VMWare torrents for MacOS X, keep in mind it will be hell slow.

Re: running OS X on PC
Congratulations on your first decent, objective, helpful and non-anti-Apple post!
I don't mean to say you don't post helpful posts. You do, you help a lot of people. But this is the first time you have helped a person who is interested in a Mac without bashing him.

Re: running OS X on PC
^^^^ oh he will sure contact you for help then. , let him download, if he asks for hardware problems he knows who to contact.
if you do want to install MacOS X 10.4.8 JAS Edition on your normal PC then remember
1) MacOS X might not install at all, Not all hardware is compatible.
2) It will wipe your harddisk compleately first & then make HFS file system based partitions.
3) Once installed, it is just a normal PC. It will not read or Write Windows NTFS Partitions & it is hell lot tough to configure a dual boot. It will not let you install Windows in dual boot configuration.
If you really want to use MacOS X, then buy a new computer from Apple, mac mini like I said is the cheapest one for 35K without keyboard, mouse & monitor. You can install Windows on it too, just forget about gaming etc on Mac

Re: running OS X on PC
Macs use SATA HDDs so I don't see why that might be a problem.
@gx_saurav
The third point is wrong. You can dual boot between Windows and Mac OS X.

Re: running OS X on PC
I think I remember reading it in the OSx86 wiki and InsanelyMac forum that you can dual boot them.
And just now, I was reading a post in the Apple community on orkut where a guy told me that he has a PC (a quite high end one) and he has Mac OS X 10.2 server and Windows XP installed on it.
So, I am quite certain that you can dual boot between them.

Re: running OS X on PC
I can't. You do the dirty job.
I am sure you can dual boot between them, but finding the boot loader that will allow you to do so will serve me no purpose as I am never going to buy a PC in my life again.

Re: running OS X on PC
It is not a problem related to Mac OS X. It is about running Mac OS X on a PC which is illegal and which I have no intention of encouraging.
I would love to help ilugd if he needs it.

Re: running OS X on PC
AFAIK it's illegal to do so. If it's legal send me the proof.
