dat 2 divx ???

wanna convert some of my .dat files 2 divx ...

which software will do it ???

reducing the size ...

Virtual Dub does it.......
Read a very good tutorial to do it....
u need to install DivX and MP3 codecs before doing conversion...

well now i doubt that virtual dub directly supporting .dat files.....rather try converting em into .mpg fomat first through Vcd Cutter and then join both the Vcd files into 1 mpg file......Then try converting through vritual dub or Dr.Divx.....Here's the link to swats Dr.divx tutorial http://www.divx.com/divx/drdivx/guides/file.php

Btw Swat.....man looks like ur are 24x7 on the search engines or sometin.....cause i see more links in ur posts rather than explanations

If it is a VCD, then don't do it, the size will increse while the quality will degrade, as the mpg file in VCD is already low quality 1 mbps based, now if U divx it with lower bitrate that will severely degrade the quality, keep the mpg only

Dun quite agree Gsx.....cause Vcd quality is already low agreed but when its converted to Divx (and leaving out the technical stuff) its quality does not go down that much but rather just the boxes appering in the vcd gets a some grains on it.....when i use Divx Pro 5.0.5 codec to convert Vcd's the quality is Quite ok mate not that bad though

btw, .dat files are encoded in .mpeg format only ( leaving apart the svcd formats )

virtual dub can convert to evry format you want, you just need the conversion codecs for that format installed on your system

and yes alib is correct, in vcds dat file are mpg encoded with just some extra information added into them

divx compromises very little on quality but really decreases the size

so i rip DCH it took around two hrs, on my AMD64
its too much man.

i was wondering Why the WindowsMediaVedio(wmv) is not much popular?
since its a compressin format.
