Help with half life!

I'd like someone 2 help me out of a block in half life game. I'm a newbie in gaming so I don't know the tricks. I'm playing HL first version (not counter strike). I'm stuck in the Blast Pit episode where I seem to have killed the big blind monster (the one we distract using grenades) by incinerating it & went down the steps & fell into a water pit, out of which I came out. damn i am not able to recall it,btw. Blast pit is one of the middle stages,why you are still a noob
