It is versatile which is commonly used.
    but
    Wikipedia extract-
"DVD (commonly known as "Digital Versatile Disc" or "Digital Video Disc")"
    Webopedia extract
DvD is "Short for digital versatile disc or digital video disc"

    Therefore both are correct

The correct term for 'V' is Versatile
Video is not the correct term.

Your wish. Whatever you choose. To me, "Versatile" sounds cooler.

V stands for versatile and not video

as far as i know, the term DVD originated as "Digital Video Disc", as it started off
as something which carried videos. but keeping in mind the versatility of the medium, i.e. it could be burnt with data as well, the term now followed is "digital versatile disc".
the 'ORIGINAL' movie dvds(as Vimal mehrotra might like to remind me) actually mean "digital Video discs", unlike their data variants.
