Post Application Bugs here. ~Discover bugs before they are fixed!~
Discover bugs in Applications before they are fixed!
We all come across some bugs in the applications we use. Some bugs are serious programming mistakes and some are silly spelling mistakes! These kind of silly mistakes makes us think twice about the integrity of the application. Let us share such funny bugs here before they are discovered and fixed.
I am posting one such bug seen in popular Registry & system tweaker "WinASO Optimizer".
See the pic below.....
WinASO Optimizer is really a good application. It cleans registry efficiently. But mistakes like this really puts a question on the integrity of the application.
I also remember a bug in earlier version of WinXP Manager. "REMOVING" was mis-spelled as "REMOVEING"! Now the bug is fixed. If anybody has the previous version, please post a pic here.

The title is really funny. You can only discover bugs before they are fixed, after all. After they are fixed, you obviously cannot discover them because they are... well, fixed!

I am also telling the same. Discover the bug in software and post it here before they are found out by the manufacturers or reported. Like the WinXP Manager "Removeing" bug. It was a bug. Now it doesn't exist. No one posted it before. So my intention is to post it here before they are fixed!

OK. I just found it funny, call it my weird sense of humour.
The sentence would have meant the same had it simply been - "Discover new/undocumented bugs in software."

One more small bug I have seen in Zone Alarm Pro Firewall. I am not sure if it is in my system alone due to fonts mismatch. Anybody plz check it out in your system and confirm.
BUG: "?" characters appear in the interface in unusual locations as shown in below pic.

Re: Post Application Bugs here. ~Discover bugs before they are fixed!~
Dont you think calling spelling mistakes as bugs is a little too strong? If you take a look at some of Indian Software (I use a handful of engineering software made for Indian Codes in India), you will be surprised by the number of spelling and grammatical errors in them... Calling them bugs is a bit extreme because they dont pose a problem to the actual working of the program...
Also, there is a world famous engineering program in which some forms have many text fields but pressing tab goes in some random order instead of top to bottom... These are irritating, but I dont call them bugs...

It's not the question of functionality of the program, but it's the integrity of the application. It is very silly for making stupid spelling mistakes. Don't we get irritated by spelling mistakes in this forum? Then think to extent of software. After hardwork for years, such silly mistakes is an absolute no-no for me atleast. If I was incharge of that program, I would think it as a big blunder. Because these are completely avoidable mistakes. Hence a bug.

Re: Post Application Bugs here. ~Discover bugs before they are fixed!~
Sure they are mistakes... But bugs dont include spelling mistakes... For example, look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_bug where bug is defined as an error, flaw, mistake, failure, or fault in a computer program that prevents it from behaving as intended (e.g., producing an incorrect result)... A Spelling Mistake can hardly be considered as changing the behaviour of the program can it?
Now, if ZA crashes due to a strange situation or if it gives an option for something and does something else, that will be a bug... But spelling mistakes should not be called bugs....
Dont take me wrong, I am not trying to debate about the usefulness of the post... But Spelling Mistakes in applications are merely irritating but can be neglected by us. However, bugs cannot be considered as merely irritating, and it would be imperative of the software manufacturer to fix it as an update...

Spelling Mistakes can be considered as a "BUG". If you don't want to use it, then the word "anomaly" would have been the option. But in that
standard spelling mistakes are anomalies! Both are same. Hence I don't see need for change in the thread title.

Re: Post Application Bugs here. ~Discover bugs before they are fixed!~
Finally Zonelabs have released a new update today for ZoneAlarm Pro Firewall. The above reported bug has been fixed. Further they have also enhanced Spyware protection. Spyware scanning is more depth now. Hence improved spyware protection. I would like to see improvement in Firewall. Previous version firewall did not pass the Comodo leak test 2. It only passes Test 1. I will check it and post it here later.
Notice the correction with reference to above reported pic...
