Default DVD region coding


if i buy a dvd movie from amazon.com (with region coding 1), will it work in india, on pc's dvd writers?

Why do you want it to work with a DVD writer?

If you mean to say, a DVD-ROM, the answer is yes, it will.

In Linux,all dvds play irrespective of their region coding,thanks to libdvdcss2

I think you can do nothing about it if the drive itself is region-coded. I could be wrong though.

DVD-ROM/RW are restricted to changing the region codes to 5 times. If you change the region code 5 times, you will not be able to change it again even if u reinstall windows or anything.

We can do the same in Windows. There are many softwares allowing this including the popular DVD+Region CSS Free
