Default Memory could not be "Read" error...

Hi all,
I recently did a full system format and reinstall of my Win XP Pro with SP2. Now whenever I run my dataone usage finder or Shaplus software to determine my bandwidth usage, I get the following message..
Can someone tell me what the problem is..??

try to do a system restore back to a date prior to the problem n c if it helps.

else use the System File Checker.
Start - Run - type in the Run box
sfc /scannow
click enter

System restore will be of no use.. I had made a fresh reinstall of SP2, and then all the softwares too. Ever since then, I have this probem..
I have used tune up utilities and changed many features like icons, welcome screen, etc.. Will the System File Checker identify all these as errors.. Just want to confirm before trying sfc...
