I would advice hiring a specialist, or outcouring your job for all the stuffs, as there are too much things to be managed.

There are too many things to even enlist here!!

Let me give you a small list. Although this is not exhaustive.

- installing softwares
- maintaining them up-to-date
- installing, updating and maintaining firewalls
- taking care of viruses, worms, trojans, etc.
- taking care of file servers, mail servers, web servers, etc.
- taking care of down-time
- troubleshooting

And lots of lots of other unforseen things. You need experts here for what you need to do. You can try doing it on your own, but you will land up investing loads of time, efforts and energy in it. It will be better to let specialists handle it.

Hold on. I will draw attention of some experts to this thread. Let them explain it to you in more detail. In the mean time, you can also try and contact firewall, GNUrag, etc. They are more experienced people.

Please tell us what kind of machine you're planning to make as a server. A pentium 4 machine with 1 GB RAM and 80GB SCSI hard disk can serve your purpose nicely, but then tell us about how many people are ideally going to view your website. How much email transaction you're doing nowadays...

What speed does your ISP offer to you? Is it 24x7? How good is their response when you call up then to fix their line?

Read the advertisement section of Digit. There are many advertisements of domain registrations company who will do it for you for a fee including the paper work required if any. We have many people in this forum who run such companies. Contact them...

Develop your website in-house. Use any WYSIWYG tools to do it. As for other software, a solution like Web and Email requires you to install a good GNU/Linux distribution.

For a really simple and cost effective solution, you MUST have atleast one computer enthusiast in your organization... Since managing updates and installing software is not such a big task. But if you're planning to do anything bigger than this then you MUST have a proper system administrator hired.

If you want good designers, I have a couple of them who have been doing good work. The sites they design are visually good.
