Default suggestions for fixing hard disk

Normally my pc is working fine however when i use the software "get fat
for 32" which is a data recovery software then at around 80% of
scanning the sectors the application stops and says that there are some
bad sectors and gives me an option of skipping the sectors. I have run
CHKDSK /R (or CHKDSK /P) but still i find that this error keeps coming
up. is there any good third party software which i can use.
i didnt do googling though it will give me a whole list of softwares
to use but i want the suggestion from guys from the forum which will be
based on individual experiences.

if u'r file system is fat32, then arrange a bootbale win98 floppy or CD.
boot thru it.
then in command prompt, run the following command:

scandisk/all/surface/autofix/nosave

This will scan u'r hard disk for logical as well as physical errors and mark all the bad sectors.
try running the utility 3-4 times as not all bad sectors get marked on a single run.
if it's ntfs, then use third part softwares cos like u said chkdsk is not working for u.
