extremely confused!!! help!!!

i am assembling my gaming rig acc to techtree. they newly added a guide for assembling a 60k pc. the gpu is xfx 6600gt but they only said that the gainward version is cheaper by 2000k and has better perfomance and overclockability. then why didn't they add it to the guide.
one more thing. till i get my new rig i want to overclock my 5950 gpu (gainward) as my warranty has finished. but i am a newbie and am very scared. can someone help me as to which software should i use and how to use it.
