where to get free images?

we are planning to run a legal site for a cricket...with all details of games player so we want images of players or games etc...
so where can we get free images..that are not copy righted...?
or we can put the source of site and we can use the image...?

we tried getty images but i think thier charges are too high for small sites ..any other such sites which gives free images ..lastest ..especially of cricket for a website...
so that we dont have to engage in copy right issue later...?
any ideas...

It will be difficult to get cricket specific free images.
So in my opinion it will be better you use images at other sites if you want them for free.
Apart from mentioning the source, you must send mail to website asking permission to use their messages. But note that some websites too do not use their own messages.

well as of now ... u can take images from news websites i guess they shudnt be having any problems ... scan em from newspapers

well we were planning for latest photo..
so seems like may be either getty image or some news site might help us
or maybe we can take photo for player profile from these site

by the way just a question in indian circumstance..suppose we take a player photo and cut whole back ground and just use simple image like passport photo of player ..how can original site claim on it...
