How to connect to the net automatically at the startup??

I use a airtel broadband connection..using adsl+2 usb modem

Now for connecting i created a net connection in the network options for making the broadband connection and did it


In my friends house everytime he starts the computer it automatically connects....

How to that ..i.e. it shud connect to hte net at startup


And also in ubuntu 6.6 it detected my usb modem as a ethernet card so i coudnt figure how to connect to the net....so how to connect to in that...plz help out guys i am kind of really a novice

Two important thinz to be done for getting direct net in BB.
1)Configure the TCP/IP in LAN as provided by the ISP
2)Set teh ADSL saved your login username and Password by going into its memory setting of the ADSL built in wan setting.
for further help u have to go in their respective website of both the ISP and ADSL modem.

to reach the modems menu use http://192.168.1.1
and save the details there

for your linux query do post in the right section, is your usb modem is decteched then its matter of few u will be connected to safely net witout any viruses
