Default A s/w to rule 'em all

I have lots of information and material like images, books, programs, etc.
I'm fed up with looking for information in every file, site etc. and thus need a software which can bring order to the chaos. something which can manage bookmarks by tags, images, programs(setups), books and much more.

my head is gonna explode.

Have you at least tried Google Desktop? If you do even a bit of tagging to your files (which just cannot be automated), Google Desktop can find things on your computer which even you did not know were there in the first place.

Yes, I have tried google desktop. But thats not the only thing I'm looking for. As I said, I have lots of things that I need to categorize. from contacts to bookmarks to images, to books. Thanks for the comments anyways.
