Default 32 or 64 bit system


Hi,

Sorry, if this a dumb question, but how do i check if my system is a 32 bit or 64 bit machine? i have intel duo core 1.66 ghz processor.

please check the processor name in the control panel->System->Device manager

Intel Core Duo is NOT 64bit (though I'm not sure if it has the fake EM64T thing). Core 2 Duo are full 64bit, the first true 64bit mainstream by Intel.

u may use a small tool called CPUz ...

unzip and run... see whats ur processor make a model... CPUz may also indicate whethers it has EM64t support or not...

in other case just confirm the model number from Intel WebSite of post the CPUz data here in the forum...

thks guys, i read thro the wikipedia page and found the same information! core 2 duo is 64 bit while mine isnt! thks a lot guys. i wanted it for getting my copy of fedora core 6.

x86 or 32bit and x64 or 64bit are architecture of Processor...
