how to compress my hard disk data

hi friends i have 40GB i want to know is there any utility to compress data on my hard disk i mean i want to compress data and want to make capacity of my drive double plz tell if there is any type software for free that can able to compress my data on one partion or whole hard disk.

If u want to compress the system drive data (The drive, on which windows is installed) and the installed windows is 2000/XP/2003/Vista, then u can convert it in NTFS and it'll automatically compress data.
And if u want to compress other type data, like setups, songs, wallpapers, etc. then u can use any compression utility, like WinZip, WinRAR, 7-zip (FREE), etc.

--look jatt,there r much more softwares that r available on net,just try through google,there is single soft. ASHMPOO which compresses the video data to the required mb's u will ask it to convert,but more d data will compressed the quality will also b affected to the extent,so try to achieve 60-65% of the original one,again convert the songs in to the wmv file which requires the less memory,it can effictively b done through VEGUS 4.0,again there must b much of the soft. about which i dnt know,but if i got to know then i will definately replay you,bye.....
