Unhappy avi file, no sound, what to do?

Hi

I have a couple of avi files. I cannot hear any sound while playing them.

I have checked that the audio decoder is nero digital audio. 16bit, 44khz. But the biterate is not displayed. I have tried playing the file in WMP, WinDVD5,divx player. Then I converted the file to mpeg1 format using Win DVD creator, still no sound was to be heard.

Is there any way to listen to the files?

Aditya

Thanks guys. K Lite Codec pack worked. I had the older version, so I installed the one given with this months digit and the sound came out ringing.

I think you are missing the AC3 plugin..

download it here.. http://www.free-codecs.com/download/AC3_Filter.htm

this should fix it..

I think it's better to download the K-lite codec pack instead of just the AC3 codec (which, as cooljeba said, is what you're missing, and is what you should download if you don't want to download a 10+ MB file), and then, instead of using codecs, use the ffdshow filter. I've been using it, and its sharpness filters provide arguably better visual quality for divx/xvid movies.
