RAM may make an improvement but it is better to upgrade the processor if possible. The celeron is not very powerful, especially for video editting.
I have a laptop with a celeron 1.5GHz and 512mb DDRII 533Mhz RAM, but all I can do with it is word processing and watching movies. Any heavy editting and it almost starts screaming.

i feel you should add atleast 256MB RAM, 128MB is too low for running any system.

i am using celeron M 1.5Ghz with 768MB RAM. i generally see RAM uasage of 300-400MB with cached files size filling whole 768MB. after upgrading to 768MB i dont think about P4. here are some screenshots of my laptop:

well i have seen when copying using Fireware port 1394 hardly any system resource is needed... what needed is only large amount of HDD Space... but when u try to work with that RAW video, then we gonna miss a good system

as the video u get from DV using fireware port is in RAW format and in a huge size... i mean a full 60min would take 10 - 15 GB (at least with my cam in modatare settings)... now u need to convert that in to playble format either in DVD or in CD... that process needs a huge system resourse...
