Can we play the songs of hindi film on website

Is it allowed to play popular songs of film on website for our visitor? Or is it protected by copyright?

If possible please give relevant link.

i think it is allowed as long as you dont distribute it. u better chk copyright's of the songs. raaga.com and other sites also do this. they r legal. i think embedding the file is ok..

well what i know u have to obtain or in most cases purchase rights to play or use any meterial of any film from its publishers...
