Default Folder Option Problem Please Help


I HAVE WINXP SP2

I had virus named rontocobol like somthing but i had removed it by mcafee antivirus but virus had removed folder option from tools menu

i want to it back without making a new user account or by group policy

how can i do this?

Since you don't want to use Group policy (GPEDIT.MSC) you may want to try x-setup

do one thing run this Reg file... hope fully it will fix the problem...

or manually edit these entries... (make sure u r a admin user...)

Start >> Run >> regedit

now navigate to

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Policies\Explorer]

Set or creat this value

"NoFolderOptions"=dword:0000000

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Inte rnet Explorer\Restrictions]

Set or creat this value

"NoBrowserOptions"=dword:00000000

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\policies\Explorer]

Set or create this value...

"NoFolderOptions"=dword:00000000

well rontrokbro virus also eats the folder options and it doesnt allows to run any AV and so...
may be this reg files help
i will give a try...

The following regcode will definitely work (which Saurav_Cheeta has already posted ):

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Policies\Explorer]

Set value of "NoFolderOptions" to 0 or simply delete the key

click http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm and go to tweak number 129. download it, double click on it and add to registry. reboot.

i think that Symantec has come out with a solution to this problem and all such brontok related problems.. they are giving Fixes and .reg files that solve all brontok related problems.. I'm sorry that i dont have the links!
