If you can live with a 12" ultra portable, get the Dell XPS M1210 and configure it to a 9-celled battery along with go7400. To find more info on it, check Dell India website. It had everything you are looking for and certainly a few things more. Everything in a small package. The default config costs 60k odd, with the needed customization I mentioned the price would still be 70k ish. Invest another 10k in 3 yr complete cover and have eternal peace of mind.

Apple MacBook.

>> As light weight as possible.

>> Screen size may be small no problem

>> Dual core processor preferable quadri core (You want a quad-core laptop! For a price of eighty thousand Indian rupees!! Yeah, why not. Ask them to bundle a holographic display as well! )

>> Upgrade possible( like ram and hd )

>> lappy should be of reputed brand whose showroom can be found nearly in most places in india.

>> should have sufficient graphics capability to handel atleast games like nfs carbon..(maybe can be used as game deck at leasure)

>> Battery backup should be a minimum of 5hrs when in full use (Ask them to ship it with a 1000V battery!)

>> DVD writer is must( blu-ray are invited if added with dvd capability) (They are bundling a diamond encrusted pure gold necklace with the Blu-Ray drive as well, all for Rs. 80,000!)

>> widescreen

>> sufficient no. of usb ports (Depends on how you define 'sufficient'.)

>> Vista and linux support (Comes pre-loaded with Mac OS X.)

Don't mind the sarcastic comments, just trying to have some fun.

>> what will be the backup time after i use the 9 cell

4 - 4.5hrs at moderate load if you choose go7400. 5.5+ hrs with gma950.

>> do i need to buy the original xp with it

With Dell, you cannot skip it. The package consists of XP Home atleast.

>> does increase in cell in battery increase the weight too

Yes but the difference in not huge. One thing you should be wary about the 9-celled battery, the battery does come out of the laptop from the back. Check the pic.

>> And do xps support linux fedora - There should not be any issues as everything inside the laptop are standard components like any other laptop. Onboard gma950 or go7400 drivers would be inbuilt in any modern linux distro.

XPS M1210 is a nice bundle at the price. Something which we are not familiar with in India considering the prices have always been on the higher side. Not any longer. If you can live with a 12" screen, you would love it.
