Default dumprep ??

Hi all,

I just ran msconfig from my run dialog box and it gave me the msconfig. In the startup tab there is an entry called Kernel fault and its command is

%systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -k

What is this?? And is this really needed?? Replies will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

This comes after an improper shutdown, dumps the memory into a file, not needed if your PC's working fine.

more info

Quote:
The Dumprep.exe tool is a Windows XP fault logging program. If a serious error occurs, Dumprep.exe writes the error details to a text file. The Dumprep.exe tool then prompts you to send the error information to Microsoft. The Dumprep.exe tool is a non-essential system process that is installed for third-party use.
