Do contents of a memory card of a digital camera ever delete when u've formatted them?

Formating does not ensure 100% deletion of data. Most recovery s/w's can recover them as well. You need to delete it using special s/w's for 100% erasing of ur data, may it be on Memory card or HDD.

no they do not, and in theory, u can never achive perfect deletion, but for any storage type, for instance magnetic, if u overwrite the data 3-4 times, then it is as good as gone, and all softwares use the same technique, so basically there is no need to buy one, just use the dm command in linux, and u are good to go, or if it's an entire device, u know what to do.
