Angry How can i get my complete group policy back ???

In my group policy some of the components are completely disappeared after, when I used system mechanic on my system, I’m using windows xp pro. sp2 at this time.

For example , When I go to administrative templates through è

Start – run – gpedit.msc – user configuration - administrative templates –
windows components.

It only shows option of ‘ windows media player ‘ in it & all the other are not being there, even I have reinstalled my system completely but it also don’t help me in any way.

Can u please tell me up that how can I get my full group policy back ???
Please reply soooon, it’s urgent.

All group policy files are stored in following folder:

%windir%\system32\GroupPolicy

Just open that folder and make sure that following files/folders are there:

Adm
Machine
User
gpt.ini file

Actually the Adm folder conatins all templates, which u see in gpedit.msc, so just make sure that following files are there in Adm folder:

conf.adm
inetres.adm
system.adm
wmplayer.adm
wuau.adm

and also if possible, post the contents of gpt.ini file here.

What I meant is just copy paste following in My Computer Address bar:

%windir%\system32\GroupPolicy

And now check whether the folders, I mentioned, are present there or not?

I have checked the folders in %windir%\system32\GroupPolicy”, the folders mentioned by you are all present there but, they all are empty leaving only the “adm folder” which contains only 2 files “wmplayer.adm & wuau.adm” but these files are also inactive at this time.

Now, after checking up all that I’m really worried about my group policy because I don’t even have any earlier backup for my group policy. Can u now tell me how can I get my complete group policy back?

Thats what I was thinking, ur Policy templates files hv been deleted, thats why gpedit.msc is not showing them

I hv uploaded the ADM files of my system here, so just download it and copy-paste the files into ur ADM folder.

And pls also post the contents of ur gpt.ini file

Post Re: How can i get my complete group policy back ???

I have checked all the folders and taken each & every step that u suggested me. Last night, I checked %windir%\system32\GroupPolicy\gpt.ini” & this link takes me to a notepad in which only a single word “[General]” is typed in.

I guessed that there is also sum problem with it too. Vishal, what I was thinking that y don’t I copy full group policy frm any of my fr’s computer & paste it back to my computer link i.e. “%windir%\system32\GroupPolicy”. What u think about it will this trick will work or not?? Will it get back all my missed files ??
Suggest me the right way.

Thats what I was trying to say!

Did u copy/paated the contents of ADM folder, which I uploaded in my previous post, in ur computer?

Also as I was suspecting, ur "gpt.ini" file's contents are lost, so I'm posting my file's contents. Just replace urs with following one:

Code:
[General]
gPCFunctionalityVersion=2
gPCMachineExtensionNames=[{35378EAC-683F-11D2-A89A-00C04FBBCFA2}{0F6B957D-509E-11D1-A7CC-0000F87571E3}]
Version=5111814
gPCUserExtensionNames=[{35378EAC-683F-11D2-A89A-00C04FBBCFA2}{0F6B957E-509E-11D1-A7CC-0000F87571E3}]
