hi this is mylifevp here .
i am planning to buy a new computer but i am stuck up with one thing.
wheather i should buy an 845+2.8 or should opt for 915+3.0 .
what are the advantages in either case?
please help me ,any suggestions????????????

845 is dead so its out of the question
865 still major in the market with standards like ddr400 and agp 8x
915 big leap. newer technology is still nascent that is pci-e and ddr2
if u wanan go for it .. wait for sometime ... till they set in

my suggestion go for amd instead
ofcourse u have pcie in amd now as well with nforce 4
but ddr2 is still not supported
these newer technologies still have no extra added advantage over the current standards ... so it might not be worth going in for it yet

do post ur budget and the others will help u extensively !! trust me
and o yeah .. ull never repent an amd 64 rig

Well mate give up the idea of 845s they are history now. Get a 915G chipset based motherboards as they give you pci-express as well as DDR2. If you find DDR2 modules too costly, then try getting a board with supports both the DDR & DDR 2 standards. DiGit reviewed one very recently. With this type of board you can put the DDR modules in dual channel for now, and when the DDR2 modules are cheaper go get'em. Don't get the AMD 64 now but afterwards when the 64 bit market is well settled with 64 bit OS widely available (I'm not talking of the Linux 64 bit! Sorry Linux fans, I'm talking 'bout the windows), Also there are many 64 bit applications and games. I'm afraid there isn't even any 64 bit antivirus as of now. So take my advice get the Intel and when the 64 bit settles down upgrade ur system.
