Default Very slow gaming

I have a 2-years-old Cyrix III MHz CPU with 256MB SD RAM, 40GB HD using WinXP. Earlier, I could play games like Project IGI smoothly. But now, even simple games like Hangaroo etc. becomes slow and sticky. How do I enhance the graphic performance and increase the frame rate? Please help but do not suggest buying new PC.

Well i faced that problem for quite a sometime ..... dude optimize ur pc thats the best solution if u dont want to upgrade ur pc.
start from the scratch (format n reload the os <<--- thats when pc gives best performance for me as over the period of time it started sucking up all resources due 'n' no. of installations ) n use system mechanic/tweak xp like softwares to optimize ...
best fo luck !
