Installation Error

Why This Error???

Whenever I try to install an interactive program for kids, I'm getting

an error message as given below.

"The InstallShield Engine (iKernel.exe) could not be launched.

The RPC server is unavailable."


Why this error?



Please help me soon.

Click Start, click Run, type the following line in the Open box, and then click OK:
net start rpcss

nothing happens good

the same error report again and again


is there any other method?

the program is "Jumpstart advanced 1st grade" for kids.

it's two clonecd image files, got via torrent, size is 893 mb.

please help me coz it'd taken several hours to download the files via utorrent.

hi dear friend,

before you post this reply I myself found this article when googled it.

Then i tried to update installshield, the file version number was 2.0x or less ie (1.1.01)
So I downloaded the "IkernelUpdate.exe"
i couldn't update the same. simply those were not successful.

I found another article http://www.laplink.com/support/kb/article.asp?ID=671

I tried their method too.

but not succeeded

So

I simply browsed to the file "C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Engine\6\Intel 32\IKernel.exe" and opened it,

interestingly enough I could install the software very successfully,

even if your suggestions didn't help me directly, I thank you coz your advice directed me myself to find the solution itself. thanx for others support too.
