Question Ram Confusion In My Pc - Please Help

I HAVE A WIN XP - SP2 PC . THE PROBLEM IS THAT MY RAM KEEPS ON JUMPING FROM 128MB TO 256MB.I HAVE INSTALLED 256MB RAM CHANGING THE PREVIOUS RAM (128MB).DESPITE OF INSTALLING 256MB RAM, THE SYSTEM INFORMATION DISPLAYS A PHYSICAL MEMORY OF 128MB.WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY PC??????????

N.B.:
1. I HAVE PIRATED VERSION OF WINDOWS XP SERVER PACK 2,I.E,IT IS NOT A GENUINE XP VERSION.
2. I CONTACTED MY ADMIN AND HE CONFIGURED THE PROBLEM AND TOLD ME TO UPDATE BIOS.BUT I THINK UPDATING BIOS IS TOO FAR AWAY SOLUTION SINCE MY RAM IS PROPER, ONLY THING IS THAT BEING 256MB RAM IT RUNS INTO 128MB RAM.

PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME TO FIGURE OUT THIS PROBLEM.

Its not an XP issue afterall. Either your RAM's being intensely shared by onboard graphics or maybe its only 128 afterall ?

check your RAM at MemTest. If any problems pop-up then its better to get it replaced. hope you have your RAM still in guarantee period.
