problem playing dvd movies

This months DVD had 3Cortoon movies which I want to play on my DVD at home .However when i Tried Playing the CD ( I had copied the movies on to a CD at my office as I do not have a DVD drive in my home PC) the DVD player gave an errror message " Unknown format" I have a LG DVD player.
Can some body tell me how can I play these movies on the DVD player.

During the copy procedure have u changed format of DVD files to VCD OR ur jus copied DVD as it is?
