Default Registry Writing Problem

Hi

I have a question. When I log on to a PC with a limited user account and try to insert string values, I can do that. Whenever I try to insert a new key or DWORD or the other keys, a message is displayed saying "Error Writing to the Registry". Is there any way to enable the writing in the registry, if you don't have the admin status.

U hv to set the permissions for the keys in regedit!

Login as administrator and open regedit and right-click on the key (on which u want to give permissions) and select "Permissions" and here u can give permissions to the user

What if I am not the administrator? Can I do this in any other way?

I don't think its possible if the administrator has disabled these rights.

u may try 3rd party registry editor, may be those s/w allow u to create ur desired keys?

Exclamation Re: Registry Writing Problem

You need admin access to edi registry, otherwise what would be the use if any user can access the registry, security of any system would go down the drain.
