It IS possible to install multilpe OSes on one partition. But don't try installing windows and linux/solaris on the same partition.
The no. of OSes that can be installed is dependent on the Space available on that partition. The only reason why installing multiple OSes on same partition is not recommended is because windows shares some common files which 'may' cause some problems.
Just select "leave the partition as it is" (similar) when installing windows

Ya u can choose the installation dir while installing an MS OS. But later it will cause problems as the Program Files folder is common to both nd also cause trouble in registry while installing same app in both OS.

It seems that u don't want to consume space or u have lack of space. Then also u shud install ur OS on difeerent partitions but u can save space by installing all ur drivers, essenstial softwares only at one place. i.e. install any s/w for one OS & then when istalling for other OS, use the same directory/path (as for first OS).
