If your CD/DVD is stuck. Use a sharp pin or one that came with drive & insert it
in the hole in the drive. Be careful not to damage the drive!!
Other option is while booting press 'Delete' key, enter BIOS, now press the CD drive
eject button. The CD drive should eject.

Check the bezel (front) area for a tiny hole, very small hole indeed. Now use a thin material, like a pen refill or a pin and poke it in there, the tray will eject.

yup, put the pin inside.....but be careful not to drop the pin inside it(i accidentally dropped one pin and it kept ejected until i took out my drive and tilted it to remove the pin)

a good way is to attach a thread to a sewing needle and then insert it

Yes, it is also my question. Is it possible to make a button on desktop or entry in right-click menu(may be called LOAD) to take back the CD/DVD tray?

Afaik, there is no registry trick for adding such an option in context menu.
Coz none of windows DLL files contains such method to close the tray.

But there is a workaround to get the "Close Tray" option in context menu of CD drive!

Just install Virtual Clone Drive from here. Its just 1.05 MB setup file. After installation u'll get an option to close tray in the context menu

Actually this software installs a DLL file ElbyVCDShell.dll, which contains a method to close the tray.

Microsoft should incorporate this feature(LOAD Command in the Right-click Context Menu) in their upcoming Windows Vista.

thnx

Nope! it'll not work if u uninstall the s/w

Actually I tried to copy the DLL file and then uninstalled the s/w.
Then I registered the DLL file and also created required registry entries but all were in vain

Well there are command line tools which can close a perticular or all optical drive trays. What I don't know is
1. Can we add context menu only for optical drives?
2. Is it possible to pass the name of drive to command, when clicked in context menu, in case you have multiple optical drives, so as to close only that drive?
