any .dat to mpg converter?

i have some .dat video files. but they don't play on my mp3 video player so i want to convert them to either mpg4 or mpg2, is it possible?
if yes suggest any freeware to do my job.

That's the tutorial but it has the link to the trial version of the software. Use that if you want.

Use ISO buster It is a freeware.Rightclick on .datfile,select "extract but filter only m2f2 mpeg frames".Select new file name ,save in a different location with .mpeg extension.

I find renaming much easier and effective. It works

try ULEAD VIDEO STUDIO..... its good u can also add some extra effects
and there are many conversion options.

You can rename file extn from .dat to .mpg. Then the file will open in mp3 player and works well.
