system hang ups...

Hi,
my friend's system gets very slow when ever he connects it on lan. And a lots of times it gets hanged!! Then he has to restart it all over again.. He has system with 512 mb DDR2 ram, intel 945gnt mobo,HDD 120 GB sata.... Can u suggest any possible reasons.. He keeps his anti virus as updated as possible...

With antivirus make sure you also have a firewall enabled and configured as lot of programs will try to access the LAN without your knowledge. Also install a good Spyware program, like Ad-Aware professional.
