Goto Internet Options, Content Tab, Autocomplete. Then turn off auto-complete for Web addresses.

Did you clear the history properly? I mean it should all be erased when you do that. Try doing that again and see ?

@Nithinks, There is an option called 'Clear History' in IE. That will do the job for you.

Yes clear history will be enough. Also set the "Number of days to keep pages in History" to 1, just in case you forget to clear everyday.
Also, IE is not exactly the best browser to use to visit "sites."

Just use Opera. You can remove all history/private settings with one click.
and then forget all hostory-cleaneres/cclean.

and to visit certain 'sites', try Opera portable - This will automatically wipe every setting, when you close the browser, so not trace of your surfing will be left behind.

ccleaner is freeware and fast and effective.
others i rate high are ace utilities, tune-up, system mechanic, anti-tracks.
