1st of i have my doubts that 866Mhz it means a P3 class... will be able to read over 40GB...

and i have heard of PCI card which may enable the board to read SATA... but 866Mhz so most probably 810/815 chipset... hmm chances r slim bro...

Serial ATA is not compatible with IDE (PATA) because the connectors are different,
the voltage levels are different, and SATA sends a bit at a time , while PATA sends
16 bits at once. The two bus interfaces won't be compatible. ie., the IDE bus will not
connect to the SATA bus!! But there are converter boards available, which translate
SATA to PATA interfaces. You can use that for accessing your SATA HD.

well ide supports PATA, and ide is going to stay longer b'cos they are'nt any sata optical drivers. so there will be a backward compatibility
