Lightbulb An Algorithm to nix copycats. Help required.

Hi!
I am a 3rd yr Computer Sc Engg. my friend an me r interested in doing a project.
We both have knowledge of basic C++ programming.
the idea we wud like to implement is to devise an application, which can tell whether any two given algorithms are similar [Nixing Copy cats!] . Implemented thru c++.
Can it be done ? If so what kind of knowledge wud we require. We are not asking for the algo itself, coz we wud like to devise it ourself and in the process develop our skills , just we wud like a helping hand so that we can start out in the right direction!
Thanks in advance!
Regards,
The Almighty God of Thunder , Lord of Asgard , THOR.
PS: Trying out a taste of Mortal knicknacks!
Thx in advance.

well i can't get what you mean , but i think if you give both algorithms the same input and they give the same output then they must be same .

^^ Naah!! Why do you say that!!! There are probably hundreds of algorithms to factorize numbers!

You have to research on detecting plagiarism in source codes. There were some slashdot stories on some authors plagiarising open source apps. Read that too. Here's some starting points:
