Default Splitting hair over DVDs

Good news that Digit has packed a DVD this August.Bad thing is that I don't have a DVD drive to use the thing.Seems the whole world is progressing and I'mstuck.
Now to get to the point. My upgrade was scheduled in August and I'm thinking to get myself a DVD drive.Well it looks that it is too late for a market research so you guys have to get me out.
I need a 16X DVD drive with CD writing capability.Processor utilization should be low and yes, I don't need DVD writing anytime now.Should I go for an Iomega or a Lite-On?

DVD-Writers are available for as little as 5.5k. Mostly 8x, dual format, based ones. I m waiting for dual layered ones to get cheap.

Dual format is the one that'll be supporting dvd+r and dvd-r. and Dual layered wud be the supporting both dvd-5(4.7Gb) and dvd-9 (8.7Gb) dvd r's.

Gimme reasons buddy. One thing to tell you; I can't spend 6-7k without a justification.BTW DVD+R and DVD-R are two incompatible DVD writing standards and DVD+R can pack up more data than the latter

u will ?? i dun think so ... dual layered arent that cheap yet
like i said dual layered sony debuts for $239 that is sony price ...
so i guess .. ard 200-210 .. which would be max 10k INR !!
not sure tho .. will check up
itll be available for 5k after abt 6months to a year ... it wont drop soo soon
as for the choice between iomega and lite-on
theres no reason as such
its just majority wise lite-on drives are preferred .... no one goes in for iomega
that doesnt mean there will be a problem with the drives ...
and ull get varied answers with varied justifications so hang in there

Nec dual layered writers are available for like 80$ sumthng......so that comes to arnd 3.5-4k. The only thing abt these so called dual layered drives is that they support only DVD+R dual layered discs not DVD-R dual layered ones.
