Dvd to Divx Converter

I have 100s od DVDs and my 2*200 gb harddisk r full. I found that many old dvds doesnt work. i need to backup them. i heard that i can convert them to divx and save space without losing quality.
So please suggest me a free dvd to divx converter and also where i can download it.

Dr Divx is best but its paid software ...u can download it from divx.com or google it ... but its worth buying..

yup u can get the free divx package v.5.x or get the newer v6.x its a trial of 30 days... u can convert all ur movies in that time...
