Rs 1000 for 0.2 GHz?

Hi,
I got stuck at a problem. Is 0.2 GHz on a P4 processor
worth 1000 Rs/- ?

In the process of upgrading my comp, from
P4 2.4 GHz and 845 GVAD2 to

P4 3.0 GHz HT and 915 GAVL mobo

Two small questions

- Is it worth going for P4 3.0 GHz HT which costs Rs 1000 more than P4 2.8 GHz HT? What performance difference do u see?
- Which is a better buy for a 915 G chipset?
- Intel original mobo or
- Asus mobo (basic model)

Whether it's worth the 1k price difference is largely a matter of
personal choice. I'm no expert on Intel CPUs, but if there's no
difference between the 2.8 and 3.0GHz other than clock speed, such as cache size or FSB, you will notice little difference in performance for most applications. For gaming, for instance, a gfx card upgrade will be much more noticeable.

OTOH, many people overclock their CPUs and void their warranty for that small gain in performance. From that aspect, 1k is not much of a
difference in a system costing >30k. It's really a matter of personal
preference.

Personally, if I had a strictly limited budget, I'd invest that 1k on a better gfx card, motherboard, or a larger HD.

There is difference, but extrmemly small

do not upgrade to a CPU whih has less then 400 MHz difference, stick to the 2.8 GHz, & get more RAM

i have a diffrent view i think you should go for the highest speed you can afford now. Why-- see thing like RAM cards etc can be easily be added upon but the cpu is the most expensive single item in the entire setup so it is very difficult to change it(financialy) thus go in for 3ghz or 3.2 if you can now cutting back on some frill that you can add later.

I did say, wait for sometime and go for AMD 64FX

Stay away from the Intel original 915G based board. It is not at all worth the price.
