Re: DVD writer
Go for Sony DRU 820A. Its a good one nd decent perfomer. Some might tell Benq as the best perfonace. As DVD writers are concerned best perfomance means just one or two seconds faster....So what we should look at is the reliability nd servicing. So its the Sony ones that are sold at rapid rate nd As I own one It could read/write any formates ive ever seen.

Re: DVD writer
BenQ 1650 is still the best one out there. The sony 820/Benq 1670 have some solid burn issues and dont have the phillips chipset, hence lack the power. I just brought a 1650 and it works like a charm and damn stable with the buffer

The Sony 820A is nothing but a rebadged BenQ 1670 FYI, GO ahead with your trust for 'Sony'

Re: DVD writer
Box pack means u get the thing in Box (well Packed)
OEM.....u get the thing just in a cover(no box)
there is no diff in box and oem on the basis of the product. The only diff is the price...........as far as i know..............oem is cheaper

Re: DVD writer
Box pack contains the manual, cables, screws, blank media and software along with the drive. The OEM pack has only the drive and sometimes software.

Umm... NO! Who told you that? Ever heard of Quality Scanning? PI Errors and PI Failures? If not, you dont know *anything* about what *best* means in terms of DVD Writers. Sony DRU 820A is nothing but the BenQ DW1670. Sony absolutely *does not* manufacture DVD or CD writers. It just rebages OEM LiteON/BenQ drives. If you ask me, Sony just rips you off, by charging you more for the same thing. The BenQ DW1670/Sony DRU 820A is not based on the phillips chipset, so the write quality is not that good, and can never match the write quality of BenQ DW1650 (which is based on the legendry phillips chipset). Also, it does not support Quality Scanning. The best DVD Writer right now is most definately the BenQ DW1650.

Ok, hmm as far as LiteON is concerned, there is a drive comming now days which is reasonably good.. Check out the "Super ALLWrite" by LiteON. Dont remember the model number, but its good. IMHO, dont go for LightScribe. Not worth it IMHO.
