How to install phpBB?

I am not able to install phpBB on my site (hosted on janhost.com). I've uploaded the folder phpBB2 to root. I was able to open install.php file. I've also made an empty mysql database. I filled the details in install.php file. When I press install button, following msg comes "phpBB : Critical Error
Could not connect to the database".

Please dont use phpBB it's very bugged , use SMF simplemachines.org it's much better and free .

well maybe u've entered the wrong address for ur mysql server or u've entered da wrong password

u must set the permission of file config.php to 777 and images/avatars/ to 777....

maybe u've not created a db for your forum , i think ( well it seems silly but may be possible )

ya sometime such silly things happens, happened with me same error and i found that wrong database name was given, so check all things carefully in config.php and tally them with your host acoount data like paths and passwords,etc.

also check the nameserver of ur hosting comp are corretly entered in config file
