partition Magic problem

recently i bought Compaq Presario laptop..
with Windows XP Home Edition and NTFS File system
it has 60gb harddisk.. with no partition.. only C: drive..
i tried to make partition with Partition Magic 8.0

first i create 2nd partition of 20Gb.. is work ok and partition created successfully.. but when I tried to create 3rd parttion it not creating any partition..

wheni chacked partition (c:\ drive) for error.. i m getting error asfollow..

"Error # 993 Partition contains open files. Use operating system check utility"

also i tried to create partitionin safe mode assuming some process running that are creating problem.. but in safe mode i get same message..

now wht can i do to solve this problem... help plz...

Which harddisk you are using Seagate, Western Digital, SamSung, Hitachi, Maxtor.
Every harddisk manufacturer has his own harddisk partition & diagnosis utlity. I have a Seagate HDD. I use Seagate's DiskWizard Starter Edition CD for partitioning and it does partition & formatting in few seconds!! Send me a PM about the HDD you are using and I'll tell you how to go about partitioning your HDD. Don't use Partition Magic!!
