hdd doubt...

i am planning to buy a 160gb ATA hdd 7200 rpm.......
my motherboard is an apoen one with the via kt133 chipset......
will my motherboard support the hdd?
if it doesnt.......upto wat capacity will it support....
want the answer urgently....as hv to make the buying decision soon,...

You have not mentioned whether it's SATA or PATA. Check whether your
motherboard supports SATA. Your Windows OS will be able to detect only 137 GB!! To overcome this you need to install Service Pack I & II for XP.
And you can install SP for XP if it's a genuine one!! Linux doesn't have any
limitations. You can go for Western Digital or Seagate.

the motherboard doesnot support SATA drives......only the PATA ones
(i am assuming the pata ones are the ones which are connected lk the cd drives)

yes u r write.. pata cables are much broader then sata cables
