1 Byte = 8 bit
1 KB = 1024 Bytes
1 MB = 1024 KB

so 16451 KB = 16451/1024 = 16.06 MB

Usually if it is a five digit (xxxxx) in KB then you can get an idea by looking at first 2 digit for MB

like 16451 KB will be aprrox 16 MB

The above statement is true except in certain cases such as hard disk capacities, etc where manufacturers use 1kb=1000 bytes and 1mb=1000 kb...

yep 1 KB=1024 Bytes
1 MB=1024 KB
1 GB=1024 MB

But the Hard disk companys calculate it as 1 KB=1000 bytes
1 MB=1000 KB
1 GB=1000 MB
The the reason why u don't get full hdd capacity...

I agree the answer is to the point.. but still i have increased my Computer GK by reading the other posts saying abt harddisk compnys.

Uptill now i was thinking that i am not getting the full capacity 4m harddisk coz it would have been used somewhere while partitioning and all that.
