Regression testing in UNIX

Hi All,
need to perform an regression testing for an Applicaiotn ruunninh in UNIX envrionment.

What are the various cost-effective ways we can develop a regression test pack for an app. running in IBM AIX v4.1 Unix environment.

some of the job/testing includes: screen-validation, field-validtion, checking/validation reports. running End-of-day jobs, etcc. beasically its a financial application.
