bordered digital prints???

i have coolpix 5600 5.1 megapixel cam,which takes photos at a resolution of 2592*1944.
but when i gave to print them in 4*6 inch prints the dude out there said that they would contain two horizontal borders on both sides and it happens to all digital prints. is it true?? if yes,then what adjustments can i do in photoshop to get full borderless prints?? also,someone suggested to me that i arrange for photos to form a single image and print at 8*12 inch. how to do it and will it work????

just crop it in adobe. I am also using digital camera, but never came across anything like this.
