Alcohol 120% is an optical disc authoring program and disk image emulator created by Alcohol Soft. It can burn CDs and DVDs and emulate ISO images as virtual drives.

It can produce a backup of a CD by either using the CD or an image of it. The software can burn more than one CD or DVD at the same time. It bypasses some copy prevention schemes, and supports image file types such as MDS, CCD, BIN/CUE, ISO, CDI, BWT, BWI, BWS, BWA, and others. Alcohol does not back up copy protected DVD movies, due to legal reasons. It also has special options for PlayStation and PlayStation 2 filesystems.

alcohol is basically used to make a working backup ( an image of a cd or dvd ) to ur hdd . it is used to dump even copy protected cd's . first , u need to know which is the copy protection used . u can use clony or just choose wat u want from gamecopyworld.com ( its got a lot of such cool softs ).
Then u copy ur disc to the HDD and alcolho will create a virtual DVD-rom drive to whcih u can insert ur image . so u can virtually play all those games withoput inseritng any disc , also it cud improve performance on some low end pc.

It has abilities like skipping read errors very fast and all those things that u may need .

Now all that u got to do is to inser the disc . goto alcohol .

1. goto image making wizard and create an image .
2. Now mount the image.

enjoy ur game.

This soft also came in handy for me while copying some scratched VCd's ,
U can see these fast error skip options in the image making wizard.

Bottom line ---- its mainly meant for copying discs that have copy protection and / or lots or errors . U can also make a working back up of ur disc using this soft.
