Well actually Cd based ones are much cheaper and offer much higher capacity. Chinese ones will cost u 2.5k to 4k. Sony's CD based Mp3 players 5k to 9k. Panasonic CD ones 6k.

Lesser know brands like o-rite, JXD etc will cost 4k to 7k depending on memory 256Mb or 512 etc. I have a i-river 380 t which i got for 6k sumthng.

Umax flash based - 4.5k
I pod - 15k onwards.

anyways i completely agree with blade runner .... cd based is prefered cuz of cost ... cost of media ... as well as capacity!!

frm 64/128/256/512 thats abt it. After that i think all Hdd based players start. Although there are 1Gb flash based players also.

When goin for a player chk for the following
1) Support for expandable memory (If u need it)
2) FM support
3) Presets
4) Voice and FM recording
5) Clear display with backlight
6) ID3 tag reading
7) Support for wma,mp3, and other formats if possible.
8) USB 2.0 support.

i doubt Yepp would come for that much, still you can get a Smedia Mp3 player, Voice recording, Fm et all @ 6.5k with removable SD Card based memory....so your recording time depends upon what capacity card you buy.
