Question Kingston absent, which brand to go for???

dear users,
recently my PC suddenly stopped accepting any floppy disks for the second time. the first time i had to settle for a new floppy drive, though the current situation is same but i am not in favor of buying a new floppy drive.. Neway i have thought of purchasing a pen/flash drive as a substitute for my F' Drive.

i have decided of purchasing a 256mb pendrive. and the brand to go for is an important aspect. Though majority of the forum users recommend Kingston over Transcend (for its ruf n tuf nature and its 5year warranty), and digit's Agent 001 recommends "Kingston, Gigabyte, Transcend and others" (see page95 of diGit's April 2006 issue). After an extensive enquiry i have come to know that there are no dealers for Kingston in my locality (Durgapur, West Bengal), in such case which brand to go for???? as kingston is absent i am compelled to consider other brands (like transcend, Frontech). i have enquired about transcend jetflash120 256mb priced at Rs.1200.

1) Do you think that a pendrive from transcend would be a worthy choice??if so which model??
2) my budget is Rs.1500, do you think that i can get a 512mb pendrive within my budget?? if so of which brand??

3) i think it is not that everyone's owning a kingston or transcend pendrive... some may even have some other brands pendrive/s! i would like them to post a brief note about their Pendrive. (please mention brand, capacity and price).
4) i have one query... can a USB2.0 Pendrive run on a machine having USB1.1??

With prices coming down like this, isn't a warranty for 5 years practically meaning less. Still of course, only reputed and durable brands dare to give long warranty periods.
